Junk Car Company buys junk cars in South Chicago, the neighborhood between 79th Street, the Skyway and 95th Street, with free towing and payment at pickup. Most cars here sit on the street, so a cross street is the most useful thing you can give us. Without a title, we'll go over the papers you have on the call.

Who buys junk cars in South Chicago without a title?
Junk Car Company can still help. Send the car details through the form, answer "No" to the title question, and tell us which papers you have, such as a bill of sale or the registration. We check them on the call against Illinois rules for scrap sales. Free towing, with payment made when the truck collects the car.
Street pickups on narrow lots
South Chicago was built for the workers of the mills along the Calumet River, and the housing still shows it: two-flats and frame houses on narrow lots, with most cars parked at the curb. A street pickup is quick when the driver knows exactly where to look. Give us the block, the side of the street and a landmark, and mention if the car is boxed in by other parked cars.
If the car has a flat or two, or hasn’t started in months, say so on the call. It’s a junk car; nobody expects it to drive onto the truck.
Commercial Avenue, the lake and the trains
Commercial Avenue is the shopping street, with businesses from 83rd and 87th Street south toward 95th. The community area is bordered by 79th Street on the north, South Chicago Avenue, where the Chicago Skyway runs, on the southwest, and a stretch of 95th Street on the south, with the Calumet River to the southeast.
The lakefront changed the most. U.S. Steel’s South Works operated along the shoreline from 1880 until 1992, and since the mill closed, 87th Street has been extended to Lake Michigan as a landscaped boulevard. The Metra Electric South Chicago branch has four stations here, 79th Street/Cheltenham, 83rd Street, 87th Street and the 93rd Street terminus, and it’s the only Metra line that ends inside the city limits.
A paperwork note for South Chicago
Street-parked cars come with a plates question: if the car goes with the plates still on, you have a form to file. Our guide to plates after junking covers it. For the title side, see junking a car without a title in Chicago.

Questions people ask
- My car is parked on the street. Is that a problem?
- No. Tell us the block, the side of the street and what it's parked near, and the driver will find it.
- Does the car need to run?
- No. We buy junk cars, running or not. Mention flat tires or a dead battery on the call so the right truck comes.
- What if I'm right on the Skyway side of the neighborhood?
- South Chicago Avenue, where the Skyway runs, is the southwest edge of the community area, and we pick up on both sides of it.
