Which title answer should I pick?
The form's title question has three answers. Here's what each one means for your pickup.
You have the title
This is the simplest pickup. You sign the title over at pickup, in the seller's section, with the odometer reading. The name on the title needs to be yours.
If a lender is still listed on the title, that lien has to be cleared first.
No title in hand? That's where we start.
Pick "No" on the form and tell us which papers you have instead: a bill of sale, the registration, an insurance card. Illinois sets which of those count for a scrap sale, so we go through yours on the call.
Want the title back anyway? Illinois replaces a lost one for $50.
Only the registration card
Choose "I have registration only" on the form so we know before we call. Whether the card is enough on its own is an Illinois question, and we'll give you the answer on the call.
Take your plates off before the tow. They're registered to you, not to the car.
